


Despite being forced to live on a ventilator in his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), Mark Angelos never lost his love for good food. A huge Greek presence and great friend to those who knew him, I filmed Mark for one day in August, 2008 and came up with this piece, which is most definitely dedicated to his memory. On the coast of Maine in Port Clyde, Herring Gut Learning Center is taking troubled middle-school youth and helping them run their own oyster hatchery business as part of their school week. This clip stems from a longer piece I produced on the story of this place and its students ( which can be viewed here ) that was selected for screening by the 7th annual Ocean Film Festival in San Francisco. The Angelos family of Stony Brook, Connecticut (and Maine) joined forces on April 19, 2009 for their annual Greek Easter celebration. I tagged along for the ride and made this film, using a 5d mark II for photos and video as well as my HVX 200 for 720 frame rates. Music was recorded from their little radio pumping tunes all afternoon.
A multimedia slideshow on the mens' winter candlepin bowling league of Oakland Park Lanes in Rockport, ME. Candlepin is a from of bowling unique to New England/French Canada. This project stems from my final semester at Maine Media Workshops and represents my first attempt at multimedia storytelling. Music "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix
